Wilhelm is a superb writer, and this book moves up through the gears to become a full-throttle political thriller with consummate ease.

I started this book & was interested, but as it progressed I lost interest. Once I put it down I really had no desire to pick it up again to see what would happen next.

I enjoyed this mystery. I think I found a new author to read. See my full review at http://girl-who-reads.blogspot.com/2011/...
Phil from Lawrence Township, NJ said on Goodreads:
Haven't read much Wilhelm. Somehow got the notion she was a horror writer, but that's false.
Skeletons was better at the end than at the beginning (I'd set it aside for more alluring reads, then returned to it.)
But it was satisfying, & I'm glad I picked it out on impulse.
Michele from Lynn, MA said on Goodreads:
Quick read, great mystery. Had a hard time putting it down!

This was a new author to me and I loved the book. Very suspenseful and lots of neat scenes in New Orleans and San Francisco. I think I will be reading more books by Kate Wilhelm.
Joyce from Portland, OR said on Goodreads:
A good tight mystery ranging from Eugene, Oregon to New Orleans,
Louisiana, with hidden family histories coming to light in the present day. A real page-turner.

Intriguing, suspenseful story. Wilhelm does manage to keep me on the edge of my seat!
Eileen from Casper, WY said on Goodreads:
This was an unbelievable story that became all too real as the book moved forward. Very suspenseful, shocking, and a sweet happy ending.
Lee Donne has an eidetic memory that maintains a visual representation of everything she has ever seen. Unfortunately, this gift is useless; it certainly didn't help her in college, where she spent four years drifting from major to major with no degree in sight. Without a job or prospects, Lee is relieved to be house-sitting at her grandfather's isolated Oregon home. But her stay soon becomes a nightmare when she is tormented by strange and menacing noises at night. Determined to track down the haunting sounds, Lee finds their source - a young man who is accidentally killed during the course of her investigation.
The man knew that Lee's grandfather would be away. But what was he looking for? Searching for answers, Lee discovers an envelope full of old photographs - men in white hooded robes, her grandmother, a man hanging from a tree...Was her family connected to the Ku Klux Klan?
